Pompeii,
1995
A group of nuns walked towards me and my group at the historic site of a volcanic eruption. As they passed, I turned around, hoping to catch their billowy scarves in my viewfinder. This nun turned around to look at me in a curious stare. One foreigner to another. Still, she did not seem to be part of her group. She strayed from her group to look at me, just as I strayed from mine to photograph her.
